A typical week's course

Sunday Meet skipper/instructor and fellow crewmates. Relax around the pool at the Club De Vela. In the evening enjoy a meal at one of the superb restaurants on the beautiful harbour.
Monday Course introduction and safety brief. Pre departure engine checks and maintenance. Deck layout, general seamanship and further safety aspects including fire drill. Short passage, anchoring in a Cala for lunch. Manoeuvring under engine including tight circle turning, using prop walk and prevailing wind conditions, berthing alongside and bow/stern to. Sail handling and reefing. Sail to Marina or secluded Cala for evening and nights stay.
Tuesday Passage planning and chart work including electronic navigational aids. Plan your anchorages and strategies taking into account expected weather conditions. Long passage to Cabrera or Puerto Soller, including manoeuvring under sail including sailing upwind, tacking, gybing, heave to and man overboard. Rope work including coiling, stowage and knots.
Wednesday Further sail training including day and coastal skipper passage planning and skipper responsibilities on short detailed passages with navigational considerations. Short night time passage to perhaps Palma with an entrance to marina in darkness.
Thursday Further passage planning and pilotage. Student skippers taking more responsibility. Simulated emergencies. Close quarters handling
Friday Further sail training and revision to polish up on any weaknesses. Back to base by 1630 for final debrief and issue of certificates. Boat clean and depart boat by 1800 hours
Saturday Day Skippers and Coastal Skippers wishing to 'go it alone' for the weekend may charter 'Southerly Gael' our Beneteau 343 for these two days.
Sunday

The above represents a typical weeks activities and is often amended to suit students strengths and weaknesses and the combination of courses being run. Most activities are practised throughout the week.
